Natural Whipped Beef Tallow Packed with Nutrients
Hello and welcome to our second blog from My Wellness! Firstly may I thank you for your second or even first visit to our little share space, we are so grateful that you came.

I mentioned in my previous blog about my skin wellness journey, well I have travelled that road for quite some time now and tried many types of different natural creams and lotions to find ‘the one’ that suits my delicate skin the best to keep in it in tiptop shape…ish! Aveeno generally is a go to if nothing else available as it is so soothing and moisturising, however my ‘the one’ has finally appeared! (It is important for me to mention that I am 53, therefore this may not always be the best for everyone if you are still very young and wish for something lighter).
I came across a fabulous and unbelievably beautiful soul whilst I was at a summer fete selling my holistic products under my gazebo. A couple of stalls along was a lovely lady selling her amazing home made products, she was a holistic healer who had many strings to her bow, one being the Crystal Chakra Healing treatment that she did for me! Not only that, she also made some incredible hand made nettle and hemp soaps and other gorgeous products from her foraging trips for the freshest of ingredients. Amongst her repertoire was the aforementioned Whipped Tallow, I was so intrigued by this gorgeous looking product I had to try it. I was blown away! This pure and clean looking white mixture was a little miracle in a jar, it is composed of tallow fat from beef cattle that have been grass fed to maintain all of the best nutrients, and it is then whipped to make a natural and ideal skin food. The beef tallow is the closest match you can find to human skin, so that speaks for itself.
What is tallow ?
So for a detailed explanation of the beef tallow composition I shall explain that it is at this point that I will make it clear that it is not something that vegans and vegetarians will want to use, as it is clearly from a cow. It comprises of rendered beef fat that has been used for centuries in traditional skincare, cooking, baking and food preservation. It is comprised of 50% saturated fat, 40% monounsaturated fat as well as around 3% polyunsaturated fat. It is a saturated fat and is very reactive to room temperatures, therefore can go solid in very cold conditions and more runny if very hot, so room temperature is the best for a more usable texture. During Medieval times Beef Tallow was used a lot for candle making and enhancing the flavour of food, as well as a high level of use was in churches due to its affordability and availability.
The fat is very rich in nutrients and essential fatty acids like oleic, palmitic and stearic acids, which help to nourish and moisturise the skin. It is packed with fat soluble vitamins, especially Vitamin A, D, E and K which help with conditions such as acne and psoriasis due to its aiding of cell turnover and support of various bodily functions. Also, a little goes a long way! (Pic here candle making)
Its moisturising properties are literally amazing, after one use you definitely notice the softness of your skin and the extra plump feeling to it. I find that it lays a wonderful barrier which is impenetrable to all the allergens that set my allergic skin off into its rashy condition, especially with the hay fever season pollens. I normally have this annoying itch on my face permanently for months, which then turns into a red looking blotchiness.. no more!

Why use tallow?
Tallow is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial…
Beef Tallow has Anti-Inflammatory properties also, the fatty acids in tallow can help with redness and irritation associated with eczema and dermatitis. So again heading back to my own experience, this is absolutely correct for me. I used to have a face that looked like a beetroot, bright red and sore and dry, literal misery.. I 100% noticed the decrease in redness and dryness that I would get when an allergy hit after using the beef tallow. My face felt so comfortable and this was a great relief.. usually the itch would start which was impossible not to scratch, followed by the red enflamed blotches, and this would last for weeks.
Beef tallow is very easily absorbed and well tolerated as its natural oils are so similar to the fatty acids found in human skin, therefore there is great biocompatibility. The Whipped Tallow literally sinks into the skin so quickly and non greasily, leaving a lovely barrier tp protect your skin from any allergen threatening to cause a reaction.
Whipped tallow is packed with nutrients and vitamins
Tallow is a fantastic support for healing the skin as its nutrient rich profile supports wound healing and skin repair, making it an excellent go to for helping to repair scars and dry patches. After scratching I was frequently left with weeping sore open patches which compounded the misery, so breaking the scratch itch cycle with a skin composition similar cream is a massive benefit.
Let’s not forget that Beef Tallow is natural and non toxic unlike many commercial moisturisers that contain synthetic ingredients or preservatives which may be less tolerable to the human skin. These chemicals can also find their way into the body through the skin, causing some problems aside from skin conditions, especially as the skin is the largest organ in the body, which not many people realise. This is why it is so important to look after it, as it has been said that the skin is a more significant route of exposure than the lung.
Tallow for mature skin
For more mature skin like mine it is a great anti ageing product that helps with softening wrinkles and smoothing the complexion, leaving you with younger looking more protected skin, there is a glow that returns to the complexion and this in itself camouflages any wrinkles that are significant, not to mention the slight tightening effect achieved.
Tallow is cost effective in comparison to other restorative creams
Another reason for using the beef tallow of course is the straight forward reason that it is also a lot cheaper than a lot of other beauty products that are not as natural. Not to mention that whipped beef tallow is a very environmentally sound choice, due to the fact that it utilises the whole animal, so making a huge reduction in food waste.

Application of tallow to the skin
If you source the most high quality beef tallow, as far as I can see, you cannot go wrong. It is an effective moisturiser, skin protection barrier, skin plumper and softener, as well as an allergy symptom reducing solution. You can apply beef tallow topically straight onto the skin on its own or mixed with carefully selected essential oils if you prefer. You can use once a day, or as I do, twice a day, or multiple times if you wish! There are literally no side effects, unless of course you are actually allergic to beef tallow itself! You can also use the beef tallow in soaps and other facial and body products as you wish. I now use one with Bulgarian Rose oil that is great for my feet and dry hands when standing outside on freezing cold market stalls, I love that it doesn’t leave me with a greasy layer all over me as some of my other creams did, it absorbs very quickly into the skin and lasts for ages.
Conclusion
In conclusion I can conclusively say that I am a convert, I have spent many years on a mission trying to find the best product for me, and I’ve finally found it and I can’t see it changing in the near future 🙂
Thank you for your company on this Blog, see you soon!
